Our story

In 2016, Jannis had a simple but exciting idea: why not bring a little warmth and relaxation to Berlin's winters with a floating hot tub?

Inspired by his work on cruise ships, he set about creating something special - and so the Badedampfer, Germany's first floating bathtub, was born. After two years of tinkering and building, the first Badedampfer was on the water, offering a unique way to enjoy Berlin.

Today, Badedampfer has grown into a small fleet of six floating tubs and a unique sauna steamer, all thanks to a passionate team.

Experience the BADEDAMPFER

In the water, on the water

The Badedampfer offers a truly unique way to experience Berlin's waterways. This floating whirlpool is designed for maximum relaxation, so you can get cozy in the warm water while admiring the picturesque beauty of the city.

You can choose between a 1.5-hour and a 3-hour tour.

Offers space for up to 6 people
Water heating: Fresh water, heated for each tour and adjusted to the outside temperature, is kept to a perfect 39°C with an underwater wood-burning stove
No license required: anyone over 18 can drive the boat after a short briefing
No need to leave the water: Everything from steering to drinking can be done in the warm pool
Environmentally friendly motor: Silent electric motor without the smell of petrol or vibrations
Roof: Removable roof to protect against rain, snow and sun

Private relaxation, on the water

Treat yourself to a truly exclusive experience with the Saunadampfer, the perfect complement to your Badedampfer tour. A member of our crew will drive you to your sauna in our private boat taxi, give you a full introduction on how to use the sauna and the space, and ensure that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the escape.

Anchored in one of the most beautiful spots in Berlin, near the Island of Youth, you can enjoy the tranquillity of the water and the breathtaking skyline in complete privacy.

This experience is all about comfort and relaxation.

Relax in the warmth of the sauna and then cool off with a refreshing dip in the Spree or a cold shower while you enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

The sauna is pre-heated to your ideal temperature and with every booking a donation is made to Sea-Watch for civilian sea rescue, so you can enjoy your experience knowing you are also doing something good for others.

Meet the founder

I think the story began in 2011 in my hometown, where I started training to become a personal trainer and “Spa Dude”. That's when I first fell in love with the world of spas.

After that, I got a job on a cruise ship and it was during this time that the idea for Badedampfer was born.

I have always been passionate about spas and saunas. They're not only good for the body, but also for the mind.

For me, wellness is not just a job, but a part of my daily life. I'm one of those people who would rather hold a business meeting in a sauna than in a café - That's just what I prefer!

Fortunately, the journey doesn't end at Badedampfer... there are many more unique spa experiences coming up in our new project The Spa Deck...stay tuned!
